Our products are used in, Optical Telescopes, Lidar systems, Scanners, active and chopping secondary optics and airborne optical systems in general. Included are a few pictures to show you the range of capabilities.
A Spin cast 1050mm F:1.5 mirror About 250lbs
2.4 Meter Furnace Awaiting upgrade to rotational casting.
Scanner Mirrors:
The low mass characteristics of light weight mirrors made using our Pressure Forming process, allows for 60%-90% reductions in inertia compared to conventional mirrors. The mass reductions allow for faster scanning rates and/or the use of smaller, more economical motors.
An independent comparison of thermal cooling properties of a solid 8" x 1.125" versus a Wangsness Optics pressure formed 8" tapered back center mount mirror. Note that a passively cooled lightweight still cools faster than a solid with a fan. This difference increases as the size of a solid increases.
20.5" pressure formed primary:
F:2 pre-formed face, center mounted tapered back Weight = 22lbs compared to 60lbs for solid disc Used in Meade RCX 400 20" telescopes as well as the lightweighted 5.7" secondary.
